And finally—next weekend—it shall be cracked open and enjoyed. 10 bottles— plus whatever my two friends bring— shared between the three of us. Going for the authentic sampler flights experience, ya know?
I’m excited to try this French cider
Cautiously optomistic about these two
And quite frankly terrified of the pepper cider.
Have a bitchin adventure van for your time.

Caramel..... cinnamon.... I don't know how to feel about that

Apple + cinnamon = greatness , caramel + apple = greatness , so b y the transitive property caramel + cinnamon must also be great!

You just reminded that I have this taking space on my fridge :
It’s just no comparison to a proper one in a glass bottle, not to mention that I’m not fond of the “traditionnel” style.

I don’t think I’ve ever tried any fancy or craft ciders. I think my favorite over the years is still Woodchuck Dark & Dry (which I think is now called 802 or something equally meaningless).
I made my own hard cider once. Nothing too special, I started from a high quality apple cider I could pick up in a local store and fermented it with a process from teh interwebs . I don’t think it tasted all that great, but it did pack a little more punch than most ciders I’ve tried .

802 is the area code for Vermont, so hardly meaningless.

That’s a fucking spectacular cider.

I’d recommend you lower your expectations a tad. And by a tad, I mean a whole bunch.
And then some more.

I'm so curious. I wish the top was resealable so I could try a bit now...

That brand had a 6 month "aged in the finest casks, etc" cider as well, but at double the price I decided I'd try this first

Clear some room, you know what you have to do!
Does European traditional cider mean less carbonation? I've had a few chats about cider with Brits, but we were all fairly sloshed so I can't exactly recall what knowledge was thrown around

I’m guessing they’re a large producer, since that’s been available here on the west coast for 20+ years. They’ve got a few different kinds that I’ve tried & enjoyed, but the farmhouse ciders can be an eye-opener if you’re not prepared.
I’m really curious about that pepper one . I haven’t had anything from Greenwood Cider yet, but hot pepper ciders are some of my favorites. They seem to work better than beer + hot pepper.

Woodchuck makes lots of ciders, so I don’t know why that particular cider became 802 . I’m looking at their web site and now there is an “802 collection” with two variants , and I haven’t tried either one .
When I first tried Dark & Dry they didn’t call anything 802, but as soon as I tried it I didn’t want the others anymore . Then it vanished from my market . Eventually I went hunting and found that 802 was pretty much the same thing, but Dark & Dry had been in every grocery store and 802 was only in a few so it became a special trip to get it, and I usually didn’t bother .

I will have to look it up, we have a pretty big selection of beer and wine around here with all the foo foo people, maybe I can find that.

It’s infinitely resealable, you just need a cheap bottle capper from a homebrew shop & some new caps!

In France and Spain, the traditional fermentation is done with no added yeast and is longer so it’s less sweet and acid than a cider doux or brut .
French cider has to be made of 100% apple juice and almost always on champenois style glass bottle while the British one can be as low as 35% and mostly packaged as beer.
Spain with it’s sidra probably the most important country for the cider but I confess never having tried one.

Ended up buying a bottle a Cidre Rosé today (took what was available on the express delivery, it was 2.38 € including taxes ) :
And i am now sipping the rest of the traditionnel bottle from my fridge with a little white rhum agricole and lime.
